Question: What are the steps to choose an independent electricity supplier (IES)?
Answer: If you wish to receive proposal from IEP, please send us details of your company’s electricity consumption for the past 12 months.
Q: Will the electricity supply not be interrupted for the Client opting for IES?
A: The electricity supply to the Client certainly will not be interrupted, because AB Lesto is responsible for the transmission of electricity.
Q: Does the Client who has chosen IES, have to make a contract with Lesto?
A: Client who has chosen IES, has to make an electricity transmission agreement with AB Lesto.
Q: So how many and what VAT invoices will the Client receive at the end of the month?
A: At the end of the month, the Client will get 2 VAT invoices for electricity. One invoice will be from the IES for the active electric power including the excise tax, and the other invoice will be from AB Lesto for the electricity transmission, reactive power and power tax.
Q: Since when is electric power subject to excise tax?
A: from 1 January, 2010, duty to pay excise tax was introduced, when electricity is sold to a person who has no business licenses, specified in the Law on Electricity of the Republic of Lithuania.
Q: What is the amount of excise tax on electricity?
A: 0.0035 Litas per kilowatt-hour is paid by all legal entities.
Except: 0.0018 Litas per kilowatt-hour, i.e. the reduced rate, is paid by legal entities with a legal form of stock company, closed joint-stock company, state-owned enterprise, municipal enterprise, cooperative enterprises, agricultural company, general partnership, limited partnership business entity, sole proprietorship, European Economic Interest Group, European company, European Co-operative Society, professional partnership of lawyers.
Excise tax is not paid by public entities, which have Recipient of Sponsorship status under the Law on Charity and Sponsorship of the Republic of Lithuania.
Q: Does the transmission procedure of electricity meter readings change when an IES is chosen?
A: After IES is chosen, transmission procedure of electricity meter readings remains unchanged for the Client. At the end of a month, the Client supplies the electricity meter readings, as always, to AB Lesto and the latter generates data supplied by all users of IES and presents it to the IES.
